Howdy. Very nice build. A couple of years ago I did an "A" coupe with a '32 shell. May I suggest putting a large hole in the shell ... where the original crank hole would go? Why you ask? Bugs! When they go through the bars and stick to the radiator, it is hard to wash them out. Having a large hole allows you to "flush" them. Joe
Thank you but We will just have to deal with the bugs because I like the look of it with the filled grille. Got about all of the chop finished up today besides the doors.
Car is all torn down now. Chassis and rearend is all welded up. Starting to do mud work on the chassis and rearend. Hoping to have the chassis all painted and together in the next couple of weeks.oh and I bought a 34 truck cab last weekend. So now when this one is done I can start another right away!
Got the engine painted today. Still waitin on the tripower and gaskets to put the rest of the stuff on it. Just used a old aluminum manifold to get a idea how it will look
Got the frame and rearend in epoxy today. Then sprayed a sandable primer over that. Hope to have the rearend and frame painted by next weekend.
Everything is looking really good - except for you having to damn near lie on your back to paint! That had to really suck. Something to think about - use to engine stands and make a spreader bar for the front with an engine tube mount and something for the rear. Then you can just rotate the frame to do all your finish work, paint, brake lines, etc.. Easy to set this up and will make your life a whole lot better! Really like the build and thanks for sharing all that you do.
We were talking about making something like that. I like the engine stand idea. This way works but it did suck. Those damn tubes are hard to get covered. Can't wait to get some color on everything and get it back in 1 piece.
Look'n good neighbor! @Atwater Mike will probably want to know the skinny on those Baker valve covers.
Thanks, we found them at the high performance swapmeet at the Clark county fairgrounds. Someone custom casted them and made like 7 sets. Whoever did them did a excellent job they are nice. They weren't cheap though but they were different so worth the money in my opinion.
Surely you are clever enough to figure out a way to support it so you can turn it over without messing up the paint.
Just giving you a hard time. This is the way I did the last one so I just did this the same way. Never thought about another way. I like he engine stand rotisserie idea
