Submitted for your approval: So I'm just getting to Vintage Torquefest in Iowa a few weeks back when I run into Cheater Rome. "Hey Zenor," he sez, "When you Drew and you were building your coupe, were you basing it some late 50's A coupe from Iowa?" "No, it was just a sort of mix of various stuff we saw in the little books," I say, curiously. For reference, here's my coupe: "Well, you better get inside and check out the blue Model A," he says. So I do... and talk about a case of deja vu shivers. This one one was built in Iowa circa 1960, and God as my witness, I had never seen it before. So the next time someone comes up to you and says, "I had a car exactly like that once," wipe that smug grin off your face. Because you might be entering a hot rod show on the outskirts of... The Twilight Zone. deedee deedoo deedee deedoo deedee deedoo
nice car mike and nice to meet you at torque fest , i was next to bob while we were visiting ! wow thats crazy , that little coupe was for sale at the goodguys a couple years back and is quite the little survivor car ! crazy how much they have in common !
Wow, that is cool. Saw your car in R&C and nearly crapped myself. There is a picture of it on my wall.
Both nice cars (Mike, I like yours the best, what a car!) but they really aren't that similar. Roof, wheels, running boards, bumpers, color, hoods, grille, cowl lights, headlights, etc are different.
Yeah, I know there are some differences, but that little A coupe is almost a snapshot of what we were trying to achieve. Spookier still are the 49 Lincoln taillights, same as we are using on my in-progress '32 5 window.
Only commonality I see is a 30-31 Coupe with a 32 shell and Buick portholes, all else being equal the cars the cars are totally different.
