I vote for you to be LT. Governor on weekends here at HAMB.

  5. It's really cool! I applaud you for your vision.

    Impatiently waiting more updates.

  6. So it looks like a race car- will there be a place to race it once you get done? Some 25 lap races at a county fair would be a great start.

Yes… I live in Pa and there are actually a lot of events close to me. We have some dirt tracks, hill climbs, and even drag events. It’s all in fun but there is usually 6-8 events during the season I would be able to run this in. We also have a GrandPrix in Coatesville which is only 40 mins from me. Lastly is TROG…. But this wouldn’t be accepted for that.

This is coming at the right time for some more family fun. Several years ago a friend's teenage daughter set a record at Bonneville in grandad's old Chevy pickup. 100_1556.JPG

  9. AMEN! I decided several years ago that this hobby was supposed to be fun and not a burden. I am trying to keep it that way and appreciate your builds as you obviously get that as well! It doesn't take a fortune to have fun in this hobby.

Love your unique build & use of different parts. I also follow couple other HAMB builds you might like: jordabennett - ‘shoe horn’ single seat speedster, rusty rocket - save of the day!!(single seater), the Frenchtown flyer - 1930s era champ car - new project…. Don’t copy but might get inspired from these couple. Following

Here's a different take but not a boat tail. Has a Nash flathead six in it. track.jpg

Now that is a nice vehicle. Is there a thread on it?

Talk about inspiration… just saw this pic of the spirit of what I want to build. Plus this is where I live… used to be a circle track about 5 miles from my house. 2500EE71-5E7E-4AEB-8FE0-C91C4381888F.jpeg

Yes, more than once. They have a bunch of events that I’m hoping to be involved with, with this thing when it’s done. I have an old roadster that I’ve been using for years in a lot of their track times. It’s a blast! 7916E99B-09A5-4FCD-8DED-D33B9B98B078.jpeg 10EC9AB4-4432-48F1-B5C0-C508C6153F84.jpeg My 29 Willys

On the windshield height issue; the last three Harleys I have/had I am/was looking over the windshield. Only a small heavy bug (think Junebug) will ever actually hit you. Everything else shoots over your head in the airstream, which is directed up by the windshield.

With the windshield removed your neck muscles will get really sore from having to hold your head against the wind pushing it backwards.

I know. I know. Folks have ridden bikes (and driven race cars) gazillions of miles without windshields. I'm just stating my opinion/experience.

Oh, yeah, way cool project you've got going on there.

Seems like in a lot of period pictures of racers without windshields, the top panel of the cowl is swept up toward the driver to achieve a similar effect without glass.

I like the look with the windshield on personally, but if you didn't want to use it, maybe a cowl blister in front of the cockpit would be helpful.

Not necessarily boat tails but some good looks and unique ideas. Just for inspiration. :)
