History #990 "Golden Rod" Streamliner ... PICS!!!

I bought a bunch of early olds parts off a well known racer who owns a blower shop. One item i bought, a complete ALGON injection setup was off a alcohol injected Olds in A Willy's that won 71 winter nationals. But I've also got pictures that came with of it on this motor during rebuild, and appeared in Rodders Journal write up of this car. Correct me if I'm wrong.....

The really cool thing, is Tom hauls the 990c around with Mickey Thompson's old ramp truck.
And it was not a static display, Tom drove it hard on the lake bed

He never left the keys in the ignition at the shoot.​

Earlier today, our friends over at the AHRF posted this same photo:

A nice late afternoon shot by Dean Moon was taken at Bonneville in 1957. On the right, we see Tommy Thompson’s
number 990 “Golden Rod” Class C Streamliner named after the town he lived in, Golden, Colorado, and painted
yellow like the cans of beer at his place of employment, Coors. Tom built the whole car himself and finally got rid
of its flathead power for a 265” Oldsmobile V8. He was running against the ’54 Shadoff Special record of 246.26 mph
set in ’54 and managed to run 175.01 mph and was awarded a first in class. On the left is the number 153 Class D Modified
Roadster entry of Reath Automotive. The power was located behind the driver and consisted of a 410” Cadillac V8. It
was running on the ’56 record set by Quincy Automotive at 204.869 mph. The Reath ride only managed a best of 187.01
mph and had to settle for a 6th in class. Three cars in class ran over the record to qualify for record runs with Jimmy
Khougaz being the fastest at 212.76 mph. None managed to make two runs so the record would stand for another year.
