9" gurus

Pulling apart an old 9" for cleaning and general maintenance and found this lying in the oil.
Any ideas on what it is?

The gear oil checking dipstick that got away that originally was just what Elpolaco said it was.

Originally it looked like the one in this 1920 something hinge on my bedroom door.

Someones warped sence of humor.

It looks to me like your 9" became unhinged.

 

It's slightly bent and chewed/flattened so I'm thinking it may have...it's out of an old 60's Rod and the rumour is it used to street race for money..I'm thinking sabotage might be the answer.

 

If it is an early housing with the fill plug on the back of the housing, it could have easily been dropped in. Yikes !

 

It's obiviously a magic wand. You know, to go faster........
