I don't know if this has been posted before (and yes I tried the search and got nothing), anyways here's a clip from the movie 7 second love affair featuring Rick Stewart's (NHRA's chief starter) wild ride in a FED (with an on-board camera). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VqhgrKzZD-8
No major injuries, just some bumps, and bruises. Here he is in 2007 in the seat. http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9QhVc3OlhwM&feature=related
Just goes to show you how dangreous those cool old cars can be. At least the drivers compartment held together and he was o.k. great film, you don't normally see old drag racing footage from that perspective.
As an old flagger, that brought back some very painful memories. Drag racing is a dangerous sport at times and has cost many of our friends, competitors and spectators their lives. May they rest in peace.
I love how someone said to him its only the front end. They forgot to mention the front end broke off the car. Very cool vintage drag racing movie
I am very glad he was NOT hurt - guys often like to bash the Sanctioning Bodies, but the reality is that their rules truely are written as the result of disaster or near disaster. It's a tough spot to be in - video's like this should help keep things in perspective.
May not make it to my next b-day, I'm gettin it now! Music by Canned Heat on top of that! Thanks for the link on where to purchase it.
