'66 thunderbird wiring Q

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by cool57, Sep 25, 2006.

  1. Friend's '66 'Bird has non-functioning brake, back-up, and turn signals. Headlights, taillights and parklights work. Any one know solution? Where is the fuse panel? Sounds like a dumb question but I don't want to start removing dash panels if the fuse panel ain't there; T-Bird harnesses aren't simple (I know...I am) Help!

  3. First thing: did they work recently?? As in, did they just stop??
I'm thinking not, so you are probably looking at a new (or rebuilt, or rebuilding) the 'flasher' unit, which resides under the package shelf, IIRC. This has a motor turning a disc with contacts, which gives you the sequential blinkers. Fronts are pulled off the middle rear contact. Brake lights go through this unit as well. Reversing lights are likely the trans switch being ever so slightly out of adjustment, try moving the lever slowly whilst watching the lights (use a mirror, or darkened garage if alone).
If they just stopped, it's probably the same thing...

  4. You can hear the sequential motor running, but no signals. Tranny was just worked on, they may have knocked reverse switch out of adjustment.

tou can cut open the insulation around the sequencer remove the cover and dress the 3 contacts and check for power there.when the contacts foul the lights dont blink. they usually drop off 1 at a time though not all at once. good luck
