Hi Gys, I know most of you are into older stuff so I thought I would just ask before I went on like I usually do on the PY Forums. I just aquired a 64 that I'm going to turn into a straight axle gasser. Figured I'd take pics of the build, starting with a fair amount of body work which I'm doing now to get that out of the way before I start on the axle conversion. Is this something that would fit in here on these forums ?
Should be cool!!!!!!!!!!! I almost purchased a 64 vert project last week with tri power.. to bad we could not negotiate on the price.....
Is it a real 64 goat? Parts are getting hard to find for those years I'm sure a purest would buy the parts you don't want or need. I saw a thrashed 64 GTO hood go for 1500 bucks.
Thanks! Had it since 93. Always changing it. It's got a big olds/pont rear with some huge traction bars. Need to get my 481 cu. in. built for it. The bigger aftermarket block and forged crank are just collecting dust right now. The 389 in it now was being used to figure out that 6x2. It's time to bite the bullet and get that motor built.
ill watchthis for sure, im starting a 64 gasser chassis for a customer in two weeks.....axle and dana 60
I'd like to see someone build an exact clone of the Beswick car. That car was awesome and no longer with us....
Okay Guys, here's a few pics of the 64. It's still very rough but all of the major body work is done.
Started the front end work last week. Yee Haw we're making progress. Here you can see where I cut off the upper A arm mount and put my 4" Makita to work.
Now on to the good stuff. Some pics with one of the springs tacked into place and a couple of the stainless dash I was messing around with. That actually turned out pretty cool for just messin with the little air grinder with a scotchbright disc. I think some standard deluxe Stewart Warner gauges would look pretty cool mounted in this.
I should also add that this is actually a Tempest that will be getting the GTO badge treatment. Not meant to fool anyone, just a clone type deal.
Cool thread, I restored a '65 about 10 years ago, still love the 389! Good luck with your project! P.S. What kind of motor are you runnning?
