I need help trying to identify the year model front end I have under my truck.Im getting ready to buy some drop spindles and not sure how to tell the difference between (71/72)and (73 /up) front spindles.Ive been told is something to do with upper ball joints?????
The easy thing to compare on 70-72 versus 73-up is the size of the taper for the tierod ends....if you still had an orig 63-72 tie rod laying around The older one has small tie rod tapers like that orig truck once had. The later c10 uses a larger taper like a 63-66 3/4 ton would have had. I just scrapped 72 C10 setup, so I can't compare them to the 73-up ones I still have, or get a pic. As I recall, the 73 up has a very much beefier steering arm where the rod attaches to. I think you are correct on the upper joint, but I don't know how you can compare if you don't have the old front end parts can you get a 73-up C10 tie rod end from a local parts place, and then compare it for size.....and then return it for a refund
