Technical '62 Ford 170 Crank Flange plates install question

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by alteredpilot, Oct 9, 2018.

  1. Got a basket case '62 falcon 170/automatic and we're getting ready to put the motor back in. I cant find a diagram for the order of installation of the plates that go between the crank and the convertor. I'm pretty sure the one that is the same size as the crank flange goes against the crank flange and then the big one that bolts to the convertor.

    Confirm?

    Thanks.

I am thinking the smaller one goes on last as a reinforcement for the flex plate...otherwise it serves no purpose other than being a 'spacer'....don't think that calls for a spacer. Think of the small one a as 'group of washers' for the bolts.
