FIY: The same discussion has been going on at the Chevy Talk site. Some say "yes", some say "no". But no one has a solid example; just speculation and the ad showing one.

While I appreciate the effort it takes to restore a car to factory orginal and if that's your thing more power to you ya bro, BUT I grew up in the 70s when the high school parking lot was full of 60s Mustangs, Camaros, Cudas, Challengers, SS Chevys of all kinds and I remember 2 major things from that period, big blocks were King and Stock sucks!!!

Here's an example of how much trust you can put in factory literature; a friend has a '70 Monte Carlo, and the owner's manual has a picture of a Monte Carlo convertible with the top down...????

  18. Well, you'd be wrong. This classified ad is from 1963.

that isn't exactly proof, I have seen many ads where the truth was stretched .... but maybe. In 61 there were many "dealer installed" SS options and I suppose someone could have had it done to a 4 door....

  20. Nobody's cloning SS Impala 4 door cars in 1963. Sorry. This is about as concrete as it gets.

I fully understand what you are saying, I have seen many mistaken descriptions in ads, intentional or simply a mistake. If that ad is as concrete as it gets ...... pretty flimsy in my book

  22. Flimsy? The ad spells out exactly how the car was optioned. LOL
No one to date has come this close to finding one of these cars, and this two year old classified ad is dialed in. I'm sorry, but this car is absolutely loaded exactly the way a true SS car would be. I've located the name of the person selling the car (who's deceased), but will be reaching out to his children to gather as much information on this car as possible.

  26. Sounds like due diligence. But if someone cold called me regarding a car my deceased relative sold years ago, I might not be Mr happy with 'em. Personally, I think this is a ghost hunt.

  27. That's just you. I run Lost Muscle Cars and have "cold called" over a thousand people. I would wager over 98% are very happy to hear from me. I guess we all can't be happy all of the time.
