Does anyone happen to have Thom Taylor's illustration from the Dec. 08 Street Rodder Magazine of a black 57 Olds 2 door post? My buddy has one he plans to rebuild soon and we were thinking about that illustration. Thanks, Rodshop
It is laying around your living room somewhere....... a quick scan would help us out. We ordered a back issue, but that is supposed to take weeks. Thanks! Rodshop
Here are a couple of pictures of my '57 sedan. I sold it exactly 50 years ago! These two pix are also in the new SRM, responding to Thom's illustration.
Thanks- got to love these cars. My buddy had his in black and great flames in the early '90's but it unfortunately bent a light pole with it- so he is thinking about getting it back on the road soon. Appreciate any more pics, and thanks for the help! Rodshop
I've been jonesing for a '57 Olds sedan since I saw that picture in the magazine a week ago. Very good looking car!! I'll even take mine in gold. Do you have a bigger pic you could e-mail?
Here are two more pictures of the car. Sorry, none of them are large; these were scanned from 50-year-old snapshots.
Have you ever owned a car that was maybe just "so so" or were they all pure killer cars? That is a sweet looking Olds! I drove a Super 88 Holiday coupe in the 70s. It was a nice driver but not as sweet as your 88 sedan. Was the J-1 your idea?
Haha! Did you notice that they were actually factory-painted in body color? I think people have forgotten that they used to do that at the factory. When I ran the dogdish hubcaps, I added a white pinstripe like an earlier model. The hubcaps were off in that picture because we were just taking off on a 3000-mile cross-country trip, and for some reason I was afraid they'd fall off. Thanks. Yeah, there were a lot of "in between" years that I drove some pretty bland stuff. There's an album on my profile page that shows 20 that I thought were worth photographing over a 53-year period. Sure. I was disappointed when the J-2 came out, because mine was built before that option was available. I didn't have the cash available to upgrade it.
Mine's different, its a mordor and it's a kustom but I like it. It and I are both too old to change now.
Here is an old shot of my buddys '57 taken in Peoria at the second Americruise next to my panel truck-
