Saw one for sale, but can't find much information on them on the internet. I'm not that familiar with pre-60 Internationals. 56 S-130. Guy claims engine runs, I'm hopefully going to go see it tonight or tommorrow, but not sure what to look for other than the usual, if anything. I think it would make a less likely seen shop truck as what I need, with modifications of course. If I do get it, there will be a 54 GMC 5 window going up for sale in the next few days.
They're kind of an untapped resource, I think. Kind of boxy, but lots of real metal there to work with. I think Shiny said in a previous post that a Volare clip goes int one of them fairly easy. Maybe a 73-87 Chevy truck clip too. The old IH sixes would go forever, but not a real powerhouse....
Here's a couple of links that may help... http://www.oldihc.org/ http://www.binderbulletin.org/ http://members.aol.com/ihcollectors/index.htm
Cool thanks. Appreciate it. I think they and untapped source too. I kinda really like the grill work on them, and the lines look ripe for a slight chop. Eventually I'd probably replace the engine. Who knows. Thanks guys.
Well hopefully I should have my '60 in about a week, it'll finally leave Houston for the journey home here in a few days...
scratch, if yr into those, there's a suburban-style ih in my neighborhood..late 50's / early 60's maybe?? it kinda looks like a jeep wagoneer. if you have any interest, i can go snap some pictures and look for a price. ed ps- lemme know about the '53 when you let it go!
I think this might be the model you're talking about....I think it's a 56, I'm not too good with Internationals! Bill
I have a MAD love affair with Internationals.......no matter the year or the model. I think they are just THE neatest trucks ever made, AND they run for EVER. Buy it!! Then build it! just so I can drool! xxx Brandy
