does anyone recognize this 55 chevy 2 door wagon, it is and has been in eastern washington for many years. looking for any history, photos, etc
Washington history, California plates, and now in Canada. No one can say it has'nt been around. Too much engine setback for a legal gas class car. Interesting colors of red, white, and blue on the side trim paint divider. Nice buckets too. So, street pounder or bracket car? Butch/56sedandelivery.
I'm diggin it!! My father was a cop in okanogan county (twisp)in the 70's.... I'll pass these to him. He might remember it...
gasser? ....street freak maybe? the late 60's and 70's had some wicked and wild street cars, hopefully we get someone who remembers it....
Engine setback was based on a percentage of the overall wheelbase...if that's a 130" wheelbase, you're allowed 13" (at 10% setback) from the centerline of the axle...just sayin, that crazy of a setback isn't impossible per the later rules in the mid-60's before the class was merged...
"Stock", the W.B. would be 115"; it looks like the axle "could" be moved a couple of inches forward. Still too much setback for a true gasser; but any tri-five with a straight axle is a "gasser", we all know that. It was probably built without a rule book, and has been through several different configurations; still pretty cool. Butch/56sedandelivery.
I wonder if it had a big block in it at one time? That'd move the front plug farther forward, and might bring it within' the rules. That firewall isn't a half-hearted effort! But the car isn't really hacked or gutted enough for the Altered class. Especially with the two front seats. Bitchin' car though! -Brad
Really? I think they allowed 10% and on the wagon that'd be nearly a foot.....That aluminum on the inside looks like I remember the old school gassers of the south looking like! It's super nostalgic and period perfect, for mid 60's!!
