Making progress, got seat mounts finished, firewall cut and bead rolled, did get my bead roller in and it seems to work fine and got rear seat to trunk metal shaped with a x bead rolled in it looks ok. Got all measurments for 9inch rear on paper so I can figure out what I need as far as rim offset and width and slick size and final rear width, floor is just about done just trans hump left and I will finish paint on interior.

I like the way your gasser is turning out . I will admit one thing , I have seen just about everything when it can to back yard race cars but I have never seen a front end like the one you have ! That is one crazy set up for sure ! I am wondering how the race tracks allowed him to run a front end like that .
I have a 50 Ford that I hope to be starting this late summer or next winter . I have a 1970 Ford 429 Thunder Jet engine I am going to use in mine . Looking for the 450 to 500 hp range . I also have a new Lakewood blow shied , new SFI flywheel and I will be using a 4 speed toploader close ratio trans with a Mr. Gasket Verti-gate , in-line shifter for shift with ! I will be running a 4.88 rear . I always wanted to build a gasser so I hope I can get it started by next winter .
Keep up the good work !

Retro Jim, is that you in your avatar at the Steeltown Shakedown? I'm thier about every year maybe will see each other next time. Getting more done got rid of the clutch pedal and cut and welded up brake pedal to left side where cl/pedal was, cleaned steering box in/out added new oil, sanded S/column and painted gloss black. Started mounting M/S from and old race car I had, it fits perfect, cleaning up engine bay to paint and will start installing strait axle this week.

that old 4 link looked scary, the links were tractor top links for the 3 point hitch. and the best i can tell from the pics, it looks like the front end hight was adjustable with the square tubing and pins right? this looks like a killer build keep at it.

old lady's mad, Yep thats what it was, whoever built it had helper springs for rear shocks on the front shocks and they would not hold any weight it was nutso crazy and I really wonder if they ever ran this setup at all. will post some more pics soon.

Yup, here's the real deal. That old hemi oughta provide many grins when you hit the loud pedal.
These cars look great set up Gasser style. Hope you don't mind my photoshopping your car, De Soto.:D

Hey, what happened to the old front end? I was diggin' the look and thought you were going to clean it up. Home built stuff like that is just not around anymore.

It was the cost to get the old up and running versus a new kit and their was not much difference so I chose the new, sorry.

Glad to see the old axle setup gone myself. That angle on the steering rod from axle to pitman arm was too extreme and would have really had some bump steer issues. Hopefully that rod will be level when you install the new front axle.
    Nice build so far!
