I have a friend that has a 54 chevy with a 6 cyl with a powerglide can you swap this out with a 350 trans or 700 or is this powerglide a different unit then the ones that go behind the v8s thanks for any info drew
You'll have to change the motor mounts and transmission mounts. Does the car have the "K" member still in it?. Check with Chassis Engineerining or Waltons. They both could help you. You might want to check NCA or Chevys of the 40s.
You also need to change the entire rear end. The 54 Chevy (if it's still stock) is an enclosed driveshaft. There are a couple places that make adaptors.
'52-54 cars have sidemounted motors, so redoing the frame to accept a rear mount for the trans is whats needed. Also converting to open driveline and an adapter plate for the trans as mentioned.
