More fun crossing stuff off the list.
Tied the core support back together, Mounted the trans cooler too. The ties are bolted for now but will be welded when I get the chance. (I Myself, can't weld.)
Best of all, My porter mufflers came in so I scooted it over to the exhaust shop and well, I love it.
It sounds so good, and when your in the drivers seat it just has a tiny amount of drone.

Autometer black diamond prestige gauges are in & working.
Now I have to get the other dash lights to look this good.

    Polar vortex, yep.

Cars been covered in a foot of snow, its starting to melt off now.
Before it went white out, I had the B&M trans lock up kit installed, Works great.
Just have to keep working bugs out, found out I have a leaking intake gasket, and the flywheel is dancing on me.

    More winter fun to come.

Gentlemen, ladies, children of all ages.

    Always latch your hood properly.

Or you get this, the hunt is on now.
If anyone has a bead on a hood or windshield, send me a PM please.

I bet that scared the crap out of you!

  8. Ouch! Sorry to see that... I had not seen your thread before and as I was flipping through the pages & looking at your avatar, I was expecting to see pics of your car at Autorama or some other show.

My Cadillac had the same thing happen to it from the previous owner. On mine, it caved in the top of the cowl, smashed the window and trim, then the hood rolled off into the passenger side door. Previous owner tore it apart to repair and restore the car but soon gave up, which is how I got it.

It may look bad...but I'm willing to bet that hood can be saved, and maybe easier than finding a new one! Mine was in worse shape and it was manage to be straighten out. Cowl and door damage I'm not worried about either. Worse part is finding new trim and hood hinges.

Don't let a little sit back get you down, you've done too much nice work to it!

Saw you are a fellow NAPA employee also... I work at NAPA headquarters in Indy.

Ouch...sorry to see that...but I learned a long time ago to N-E-V-E-R trust the factory secondary latch...

On EVERY car I own, I now use a length of plastic-covered cable, some cable stops to make loops in the cable, a couple of old Chevy u-joint u-bolts and a padlock. Drop the hood to within 8 inches of the latch, put the cable loop and padlock around a u-joint and close the hood...it never comes open at speed now.

Thanks guys, Yeah it was definitely and experience. One I will try my best to avoid ever again.

The cars Insured, And I'm still him-hawing about calling them up because I'm afraid they will call me out on "owner negligence." or whatever its called. There is actually no latch whatsoever. I had been tying the hood down when I drove it and of course the run too see if the O. D. Control box is working. (45 MPH or above) I forget to tie it.

    So, I'm dumb.

But, It's just a hood & glass. Ironically I was planning on replacing the windshield gasket anyhow, I had one in the trunk.

    Good news everyone!
Insurance came through and I'm trying to round up a hood & windshield. New one with smoked tint bar is available though Caddydaddy.com, Most likely getting that.

Once this is done, With the weather good again its full steam ahead to get back to work on it. I want to enjoy my car again.

I have a complete car that I'm considering parting out and but that depends if I can sell it whole. No title so no takers yet. What's the hood worth to you? Im trying to get 3k for the car. It's complete with factory air. Added a front disc brake kit

So its getting back together, And the good news is the original hoods getting reworked.
Took it for a hard run a 2 weeks ago, 40+ miles with no tools, no support. Aside from my oil pan gasket leaking like a sieve & highway traffic rubber-necking too much, It did wonderfully.

Will it have a hood by S.O.S.? Probably not, but, sure will sound & drive nice.

So, forgive my delay. I've been attending Universal Technical Institute in Lisle, Illinois since June.
Car made it to a few shows, sins, flint before then & did surprisingly well for a yacht when a guy tried passing me on the highway.
It's sitting up on stands in storage until I get back home next June.
Then, phase two of this madness will begin.
BTW, the rear got 3" blocks and big new u-bolts. Still rides fantastic.

(Still waiting on my hood to get finished)
