I bought a 1951 Chebbie pickup a few months ago and now I finally have digital pictures (All taken today). By the way, this thing was all put together and running when I bought it.
There is a "Fukengruven" sticker in the rear window from the previous owner. The difficult thing was trying to explain what "Fukengruven" meant to my folks when they came over to check out the truck.
that's going to look great when all done. that taillight idea sounds killer. what other plans do you have for it? keep us posted.
Thanks 133. As far as future plans, I'm starting with the drive train. I've got a 3:08 rear end coming in a couple weeks and after that, I'll switch the manual tranny out for an S10 version. I'm gunna run dual exhaust "18 wheeler" style, up behind the cab. I also want to take a cylindrical side saddle fuel tank from a big rig and plant it squarely behind the cab in the bed, (ala Shine's pickup). I don't plan on choppin' the top because I think it tends to screw up the proportions of the hood on the AD pickups. (Although, I have seen some that were well done). Other things on the To Do List: Shaved door handles, frenched radio antenna, lower the suspenson (sticking with leaf springs front & rear), Sand Blast Everything and repaint.
I considered an S-10 frame, but no, I'm stickin' with the original frame. Its still very solid and I figured it might be better in that I'm keeping the Stovebolt Engine.
Sounds cool. I just pull the grill suround from mine. Of to the chromers. Mine sits on a s10 frame. Heres a pic. Have fun building. I did!
Greazer, Your project looks good. I always look for a certain statement when someone starts a new project and you passed with flying colors. That statement would be 'IT WAS ALL TOGETHER AND RUNNING WHEN I GOT IT", man it doesn't get any better than that. Of course you took it apart, what kind of a car guy would you be if you took a running vehicle and just left it alone. haha!!!! Good start and keep us posted. Frank
Nice Petejoe! That color really looks good with the chrome. How long did it take you? Do you still have it?
yes I still have it. I have driven it about 45,000 miles since it was built. I would advise you not to put a rebuilt original front end in yours though. Todays roads and speeds just doesn't work with that straight axle.I used a M2. Here's my album with more pics photobucket
