If the distributor is an hei, try to replace the module,
I put an hei in my 52 p/u it ran for a few days then tried to
Start it one day ad no spark. So I ask my friend he said change the
Module and sure enough that did it

An 89 has a computer with a TBI. If it uses the original harness, it will have a ALDL connector and a way to wire a service engine light. Use a cheap OBD1 box or short the contacts to read the codes.

It could be a dead computer, they are darn cheap now. It does have the computer I hope.

  6. No power to the distributor.......check the oil pressure switch, this may have a fuel pump shut off circuit. Most of them have a three prong oil pressure switch.
