Too far for me to go, don't want to see it get scrapped. I have no connection with the sale whatsoever. It's in Monongahela PA. Auction description says "4-door" but pic says otherwise: Supposedly no motor or title, but should make a decent project start. Auction info : http://www.auctionzip.com/cgi-bin/auctionview.cgi?lid=515101 or if link doesn't work- www.auctionzip.com --> 'Pennsylvania' link and it's the 1st one.
>>"i assume you'll be buying it??"<< As I said in the first sentence, it's too far away for me to get to. Have at it.
JEEZ..THANKS!!!!!...Now i have no chance...thanks WQ59B If you don't plan on buying it, then don't post it. Tokyo
Sounds to me as though Tokyo and maybe Sawsall were aware of this auction and now this guy has broadcast it around the world. Probably be more there for the Merc because he did this. Some people just can't keep still about anything. It's like the guys who find something on that auction site and have to hurry over here and blab about it only to find someone or two are already on it and now they have more competition.
Point taken- will never call attention to another auction car ever. Sorry if this screwed up anyone's plans- only meant well. However, I can't help but think of those threads where guys post pics of junkyards cars, then refuse to tell where they are. In other words- 'I can't let anyone else know about it'... we've all read the common attitude toward that... Also: if I was going to buy it, why would I announce it beforehand ("If you don't plan on buying it, then don't post it." = 'If you plan on buying it, post about it first.') Would everyone automatically not attend the auction if I said I wanted it ??
If the auction place does any advertising, people will come out of the woodwork, and it will still sell cheap. Have watched it happen myself.
tokyo mentioned the car to me before it was posted here.. it doesn't have "wood" so i am not interested.. furthermore I thought "ebay" auction "links" were frowned upon here.. and I feel that this type of post fits the same category. hence my thumbs down.. on a more personal note.. i feel that if someone isn't adept enough to locate these type of things on their own, they have no place in owning them.. in reality.. the original poster may have just saved me a trip to western PA..
See? If everyone thinks everyone knows about it, maybe no one will go and someone will be high bidder at $100 or so.
if I was close by I would just bid on it and not care what you guys say. it just gives more Hamb'ers a chance to have a car they might not have ever found. so quit sniveling. if you can't buy it, don't bid.
I thought hambers were suppose to help hambers. It's an auction and it's open to the public. It would be different if someone zeroed in on your secret barn find and posted it.
Thanks,Was looking for another one. Was thinking about buildin another one and sellin the chopped one
C`mon guys , lighten up........you Hambers that cry about these things should pick up your toys and go home.
well, i went and a local guy bought it and most of the merc parts too. had a couple flatheads, lots of old car parts. i bought a real solid 57 ford F-250 and a roll-top desk and a whole bunch of other car related things. was a good day for me.
I heard that someone who lived down the road from the auction bought it. Paid $2500. Is this the case?
tokyo and I attended another auction that day. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=347445&highlight=auction+report and reported on it AFTER the sale.
