49 and 50 ford frames

im sure this is an easy one to answer but i really dont know the answer so heres my question. will a 50 ford coupe body fit on a 49 ford sedan frame? if so is it a direct bolt on. are there any other things that would need to be changed? thanks.

 

Yes, the coupe body will bolt to the sedan frame. As far as I know, all the closed car frames were the same, convertibles were different. I just put a 2 door body on a 4 door frame and I have a coupe parts car out back that looks just like the other two frames.

 

Yes, it will bolt right up. The convertibles had a beefier frame, slightly different. Shouldnt be an issue swapping the bodies.

There are slight differences betweem 51 passenger and 49-50s so please make sure you get only a 49 or 50

 

all the ford "lifeguard" bodies will fit on the ford 5 crossmember frames

saved money in production

 

Convertible has a great big X crossmember in the middle of it, none of the others have one.
