I have a 47 Chevy biz coupe, and was wondering what years I should be looking at to replace my decklid. Any insight would help, and also any leads.

    42-48 and maybe 41

  3. 42-48 small body GM coupes only - and only the Chevy will have the right plate light and so on in the middle. But Pontiac and small Olds (6-cyl) may also work.

  4. 41's have square bottom corners,...later ones are rounded.

?? our 47 has a squared bottom on it.... Olds, Pontiac, or Buicks won't work...

I think you're stuck to 42-48 chevies.... We looked for ever and finally found one that was affordable and useable.

    from Yakima WA.

If you look at the 41 Chev bodies, I think that they are the same up to the front door post. The 41's use a different door hinge than the later years. I bought a 41 body (2 door) a couple years ago to use the quarter panels on my 47; they look the same and measure out right.

thanks for all the replies. My decklid looks identical to the 47 olds above from INKed, so I am guessing early GM models will work as long as they are coupes?

  11. Gotta be the small body GM cars - Pontiac, Olds 76 (6-cyl), possibly Buick Special/Century (don't think they even made a 46-48 Century). Olds 98, Buick Super/Roadmaster, Caddy won't work.
