New to V-8's just double checking...

In the picture you can see my gasket, top of my weiand tunnel ram and the bottom of my 450cfm holley...

This gasket is ok to use correct ?

    And yes it matches up...

I'm more or less wondering as there are other gaskets with separate 4 holes, but if I'm thinking correct some tunnel rams had the top portion with 4 holes ...

    Yep!!! Use it!.. :)

  3. if it covers the whole intake surface, anything bigger would just be useless.

I have the same setup on the Willys - dual 450s on a Weiand tunnel ram. Either the gasket you have or the four hole will work. it is not necessary to use the four hole gasket as anything that is not sandwiched against another surface has no purpose anyway....

remember to remove the screws that are not covered by the gasket as they are in your photo..........

on a dominator type holley you need to run the tin 4hole plate that keeps the older style linkage covered .......

Not to mention more material could warp and hang down into the intake and disturb flow

Do as gasser John says, any screws that are not covered should be removed! I cant tell you haw many motors were damaged because of the screws falling out. Any gasket thats not sandwiched between two metals should be cut out anyway. So, yes your gasket is correct.

I see what you guys are saying, shit I wouldn't have even THOUGHT about that....

I could just imagine slamming gears and a screw meets my Valves/Piston !!!

I will match it up one more time and see what screws can be removed, I'm not entirely sure if the screws I remove will effect the carbs strength or create a leak ?

    Good looking out !!!

Nope! Not at all... Some of the newer Holley carbs don't have those 2 "middle screws" installed in the baseplate... It's ok to take those out...
You'll need a #2 phillips head screwdriver to take those out... I'm sure you already knew that...:D:eek:

7-12 ft lbs torque when tightening the carb(s) down on the intake....;) Anything more will just warp the baseplate..

Let's see... For a small block chevy with 3/8-16 threaded intake holes??? Probably no more than 30 ft lbs... go in 2 steps 15 and 30 ft lbs.... I don't have torque value chart in front of me... Maybe someone else can chime in..
I gotta take off to a birthday party..... Mine!:rolleyes:
