I have a 63 conti with a dead hole. I can pull the plug wire and no change in idle. I also get some back fire through the carb on occasion and a definite pull through the tail pipe. I am thinking its a stuck or bent valve or push rod. Anything I should look out for before I tear into this thing.
I suggest a compression test followed by a leak down test to confirm your suspicions. However, I think you're are probably correct. A broken or weak valve spring could let the lifter pump up and hold a valve open, I suppose. Farmalldan
