Does anyone know of a machine shop that can service the heads on my 401? I took them to Calverts in Denton, but they said they won't fit in their machine, so they can't work with them. Any other suggestions?

    Thanks!

Might pm Grits, I think he's running a nailhead in his coupe.

Edit: he's running a sbc, but he might now anyway. Or pm Anderson (eric), or Big Dad.

City Motor Supply says they can do the work, but I have my doubts.
    Any opinions?

Eric did the SBC in Bass' roadster and works at a machine shop in Arlington. I haven't had the fortune to have work done by him but I think he would know where you can take them if he can't service on them himself.

Cant help you with a place to take them. But when you do find a place if they tell you they need hardened seats take them somewhere else. The Nailhead dose not need them. Lots of heads have been messed up by poeple doing it. The water jacket is very close to the seats

  7. I suggest Day engines as well.

I think you dodged a bullet and didn't even know with Calvert, theyy screwed up my Stude 289 pretty bad; dirty assembly, missing oil galley plugs, rod's not bolted properly....... All kinds of issues.

I had Dave Plubell fix it, not sure if he is still around or not.

I had Blaines rebuild a 225 slant 6 for me. They did a good job.

I think I'm gonna drop by Days just to see what they have to say. If they can't hook me up for a decent price, I may chance City, or Blaines. I will definitely avoid the hardened seats though.

    Thanks for the input!

    EDIT:
Ya, this is the spot to take your machine work to.
