I picked up what is supposed to be a built 390 Ford, has a CJ/GT juice cam, adjustable rockers, etc. It's complete & runnable down to the plug wires, and I don't want take it apart to ID things. Through the borescope I can see piston #'s 2310P- haven't been able to find any reference to that number. It's an older build, possible a discontinued or superceded piston#, and they have the small dishes like the 390-2V pistons. Anybody recognize that piston #?
    Thanks, MG

That is a Sealed Power piston for a 390 Ford (4.050 is the standard bore) 4 bbl. engine from 61-65.

    It is forged and has a 2.62 x .056 cup in the head and the ring lands are 5/64 (.078) 3/32 (.09375) and 3/16 (.187) oil ring with a 1 25/32 (1.781) compression distance.

Sounds right, as the PO had said it had forged pistons, and that confirms it has the standard ring package. I trust you have an old Sealed Power catalog?:D This one was slated for a customer's Cobra kit car, solid engine but (hopefully) not too strong for the driving skills of the owner
    Thanks, MG

Indeed I have the SP catalogue and have a pretty wide assortment of engine parts catalogs and Motors Manuals going back to the 40's.

Anytime anyone needs something identified especially in the engine parts area feel free to contact me, I enjoy researching and hopefully coming up with the correct answer.
