You sir, are a moron. My post didn't have anything to do with how far along MY car is. it had everything to do with how BAD ASS this car is. Speaking of... Any updates on the project Rich?
Hey Hudson, Nothing too exciting... We are just about finshed setting up the bag system. I think it came out pretty nice. We ran 3/8 stainless hardlines, I know it isn't necessary, but it looks nice. It was definately a learning experience. Probably not too wise to learn on $5/ft stainless, but we are happy with the results! We also had the hubcaps modified to fit the smoothies and bought the beauty rings. I love the way the original hubcap looks! I'll take some pictures this weekend!
Right on. Do you guys have any shots of the underside of the body? What was done to fab up new body mounts for the non-unit frame? I've got a couple of Zephyr's now, a 38 3 window and a 39 sedan, and I've been contemplating putting the 3 window on a separate chassis like what you're doing. Beautiful car by the way... thanks.
I do not have any pictures of the underside of the body, because there isn't one anymore. We pretty much cut around everything the original frame was attached to. We originally put four body mounts on the chassis, but the positioning wasn't quite right, so we have since removed them. The plan is to add two more as well. I will add a few pictures of the process when it is finished.
Looking good Rich! How hard was it to get the body off the original frame without tearing up anything? Keep the pictures coming. It's a great inspiration to anyone doing a build!
Welcome Aboard, WOW it looks as if you have a serious car in the works...cant wait to see it when it is done. Take Care
How did you do the hub caps? I sent one of my Zephyr hubcaps to Wheelsmith last week and they're not sure they can do it.
I just liked the car, my 11 year old likes the car and wants to put steeler crap in my garage now. LOL nice, very nice!!! If you goto bob's let us know, it'll be worth the drive down for sure.
It was pretty tough at first when we tried drilling the spot welds! LOL... That got old real quick, so we broke out the plasma and just started cutting around everything the frame was attached too. Probably not the best way, and I wouldn't say we didn't tear anything up, but we reinforced everything. Let's just say I wish more got done! Well, all I could say is your 11yr. old definately has good taste!! lol... I'll shoot you an email when we finally make it up there. Hopefully sooner then later!
Fantastic progress.....chassis is super clean. I must say........I in the process of adding a Chassis Engr. (ALSTON) fab 9 with 4 link & coil overs to the rear of my 46 cpe. along with thier A-arm-coil over set up on the front...... I contemplated the air route but I was just lost with the bag thing.... Dude you got balls.......I love it. Paco
Jesus- Sometimes cars on here go beyond art and intertwine with science itself. Zephyrs were/ARE IT in my opinion. My bet is if son Edsel had his way that Ford would have put out some more truly amazing cars, had father Hank not been so hard on the kid. Nice work and glad to see it FoMoCo powered as well.
Hello, i must say you guys are doing great. Can't wait to see it running. Hey what are you going to do with the 37 grills? I have a 37 coupe and am interested in one. Let me know. Thanks alot. Henry diaz.
