Took the 39 to get front end alignment this morning ,on the drive home noticed burning smell .my front tires were rubbing front fenders. right now I am using a set of 15x7 -4 in backspace with 195/65/15 tires. I am getting ready to order my wheels .Trying to decide wheel size for the front, 15x5- 3.25 space or 15x6 -4in space also what size tires are you running... thanks
Papa it would have come from the factory with 16x4s if that helps. I have a '40 wheel in the shop that is 5" I believe that I can get you the back space off of or if you want to come by I can show you how to measure for proper backspace and width. Or both. What are you using for a front end? is it stock with a dropped axle? Just a question here. Not often that someone is close enough that I can do hands on with them.
Always use 15X6 on front of 40's with a backspace of 3 3/4 to lip--max is 3 1/8 from mounting surface to outer edge of lip--any more and there is problems. 15X 7 with 4" backspace to lip is about the same on the outside to the lip--too much. By the way--no one seems to make these and I always have to special order--have done many 40's this way. Recently friend ordered centered 15X6 which is 3 1/2 out to lip--these will rub when turning--that small amt makes a hugh difference. The ones on the 40 shown are 15X6 --3 1/16 to outer lip--195/65 15--came from Wheel Kid--no issues.
Most of this involves a dropped axle, but you might look at this http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=693136
