Hot Rods 39-46 Ford interchangeable?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by ratty_aussie, Oct 29, 2012.

  1. This might sound crazy but will a 39 ford front end bolt into a 46 ford chassis without to much hassle? Just trying to build it with what I have available and on a budget.

are you talking about sheetmetal or suspension? sheetmetal - no way. as far as the suspension goes, attaching to the stock mounting locations - axle and spring, probably, wishbone - no way. shocks + links - no way. this does not mean that split wishbones and other modifications couldn't be made to fit, but starting with the right parts is much easier. find a fellow rodder in need and trade parts

A 39 front axle is narrower than a 46, for one thing.

  5. Treb11 I'm talking about suspension. Thanks for your input.
