Saw Gerry Dutweiler turn 107 @ 11.50 at the Fontana antique drags. 38 Buick straight 8 has turned a best of 117 @ 11.37. Pretty good for a street machine.
hey guys, I don,t have the pix my son does. its pix of Dutweilers car not the pix you posted. I just gave his times. if you were watching you would have seen them. It,s a hot rod, it has a blower, a 4 barrel and many other mods, it doesn,t have a small block or big block it has the same type of engine it originally had when new only hopped up. Its what the antique drags are all about, having fun.
Sorry for bringing back a very dead thread but I told my dad years ago I would post up the video of Duttweilers Buick I had and....it got erased. I did find what I believe was the run he made but I wasnt at the starting line to see the launch but I do remember the sound that big block sounding STR8 made when it went flying by. It really was a sight to see in real life. http://youtu.be/0v67LhZNuqU?t=2m
JENZ, Yes we were lucky to find this video it is almost exactly like being there. The person who took this vid was in the best spot to film the starting line. Gerrys Buick is an original body, with some modifications to the suspension for racing. notice his start has no wheel spin it just jumps.!
Since his model of Buick straight 8's were made 1936 to 1952, I believe he would race any 1936 to 52 'American STOCK BODY CAR'. You could probably include EARLIER stock cars as well. [its also supercharged 350cui Buick straight 8,]
BUICKS RULE! "When better cars are, Buick will build them" Buck straight eights were produced through '53....though only in Special Series 40 the last year.
Yes it is a 37...... That one above is totaly cool......real cool !! I have the grill now, anyone know a place to buy the little buick emblem that fits in the stainless trim in the front of the grill?? I also have a parts sedan (38) with the stright 8 if anyone is interested
