    A little progress update here.

While the body was on the rotisserie, Lizardskin was applied to the bottom of the body, also to the rear inner fender wells, the inside of all the fenders and the bottom of the running boards. The firewall was body worked for final paint, as well.

The final coat of dark blue exterior paint was applied to cover all the areas that had Lizardskin and the firewall received it's final finish coat of exterior blue paint too.

The body was put back on the chassis, ready for final exterior paint.

I also had all the window glass cut to my patterns and installed in proper chopped windshield frame and NOS Ford glass channels.

    It's getting closer.

Here are a few photos. Even though there is a thick layer of dust on the firewall you can get an idea of the exterior dark blue paint color.

  4. I think the 36 three window Ford was the most beautifull style that old Henry ever built. I envy you.----Brian

VERY nice. Good color choice, and I think the maroon interior will look great in it.

What a BEAUT! That '36 is going to be great. I'm afraid I would be scared to drive it, because it looks like it'll be showroom fresh. But I live on a gravel road and some people drive like a bat out of hell without a thought as to throwing rocks on nice cars.

Here are the latest progress photos.

Need to do a little more cut & buff and paint about 15 small interior pieces.

Also, I now have EVERYTHING needed to do the wiring.

    We're getting close.

    Time for a project update.

A couple of weeks ago I spent a few of days at the paint shop with the guys putting the sheet metal back on the body.

The trunk lid and door gaps are really good and the front end, including the 4 piece hood, came out great, especially for a 36 Ford.

I then moved the car back down to my buddies shop to finish the build.

Been pretty busy since the first of the month putting the rest of the car back together.

No matter how well you mock something up, there are still plenty of things left to do.

Here are a bunch of photos from a few weeks back.

The dash "waterfall" came out good.

The steering wheel is painted the dark red interior color with the 2 ribbed areas on the spoke painted the exterior blue.

The body and paint guys, Altissimo in Napa, CA, did a great job. The car looks beautiful.

The dark blue color really needs to be seen in person.

    That's it for now.

A lot of work has been done since my last post.

Although I had done a thorough mock-up, it seemed like I had to redo quite a bit.

The wiring job, with an EFI controller and electronic trans controller and my use of weather pack connectors took a bit longer than I expected, but everything is working as it should now.

I started the engine about a month ago. The A/C system is charged and working well. Everything in the dash is working properly and the brakes and steering are OK.

I FINALLY drove the car for the first time last week.

At 1/4 throttle it breaks the tires loose shifting gears, and thats with a automatic trans. It is comfortable to drive and cruises great on the freeway. It sounds pretty radical at idle.

I want to put a few miles on it before I really open it up.

I plan on taking it to the upholstery shop just before Thanksgiving.

Hopefully this 4+ year project will be "completed" soon, because I can't wait to drive the wheels off this old Ford.

    Here are some progress photos.

Very nice. It looks a bit like my old '36:

Unfortunately, the current owner has changed my old car a great deal.

Are you planning to run hubcaps?
