Technical 35/36 ford dash question

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by PurdueSD, Mar 8, 2014.

  1. I've done some searching here and the ford barn and keep reading conflicting answers. Is the waterfall on a 35/36 ford closed car dash stainless or was it chrome? I have been looking at a few and I am trying to determine if I will need factoring in the cost to re-chrome one or if it's stainless and it's just a polish job.

    Thanks in advance!

I believe they are chrome plated steel, but a test with a magnet will tell you for sure. Stainless steel (300 series) is not attracted to a magnet.

    Chromed but hardish to find.

  6. Thanks everybody!

Is the re-chroming process the same for brass as it is steel? Any guesses what it might cost?
