    Will a 1958 348 3x2 intake fit 409 heads or only 348 heads?

I've been searching (yes even 348-409.com) and haven't found a answer.

Plus I prefer the hamb anyway.

  2. Depends on your heads......I believe the 348 and 340 horse 409 will match up, but the high horse 409 will not....machine work needed. They do sell new 409 stuff, and you can find it used. So either way you are covered. What are your head stamp numbers?

  3. You can bolt that 348 3x2 intake to the following heads:

    ALL 348 heads

ALL 348/409 truck heads like the "333" that are most common on the late 348 and the 409 trucks

409 340 Horse- meaning casting "817" will work as well

The only heads you can't use are: "690" or "583"" these are high horsey 409 heads or any aftermarket aluminum head for that matter but why would you-the are NOT period correct. Hope this clears things up.

    Man I love this place.
Thank you guys...appreciate all the help.

  6. I wish someone would make an aftermarket tri power intake for the 348-409's.

  7. Hard to believe they don't......crazy really....dual quad, four 2's, and six 2's........from Offy. Thought for sure, that they would have one......I AM A BIG OFFENHAUSER fan too.[IMG]

.....little heavy.......but I wonder what the hell a head porter/fabricator could do to factory set up....they're plentiful ? Raise the port roofs, blend transitions...hog out runners.......polish/blast paint ? .....thinking out loud......

  8. From what I was told, the factory 348 3x2 intake wasn't the best design and, could have been done better but, I don't know exact details to where the intake could have been better or where the problem in them is/was. I think all the aftermarket intakes look cool as hell but, I would opt for a well thought out aftermarket tri power intake if someone would make one.

The 340 horse 409 heads were service replacements from Chevrolet for the 350 horse 348 heads. These are the heads on the 348 in my 59 BelAir .

Does the Offy dual quad intake flow very well? How is the quality of their new intakes?

  13. Hey the more W engines we can get out there on the road the better! In regards to stock tri power intakes be careful as some can be cracked if you look inside-major vacuum leak.

The Offy intake for a 409 is not worth a $hit, the eddy intake is much better

  15. it's a shame no one made an aftermarket tripower intake for the "W'S"

Here's a pic of my 409 in my 38 Chevy gasser. 409 Truck block, 340 HP heads and factory 348 tri power. May not be the best performer sounds cool as hell with fenderwell headers and short side pipes with 2-1/2 core glass packs.
