since I was young I used to see a 34 five window at a car show every year with a loud motor and it made me want one. That combined with seeing an old Plymouth with a blown hemi brought me to where I am now. Well in 2014 I picked up this 34 five window. I had intentions of keeping it just the way it was but I just couldn't do that. So here has been my build. I'm trying to keep it traditional to the early 60's. Found registrations in it from 60,61 and 63 and the tires on it were dated 62. so It hadn't seen the road in quite some time. Anyhow here is my progress. Boxed original frame. 392 hemi built by Herm Petersen the "Northwest Terror" and turbo 400 trans. 57 olds rear. The dropped 32 axle with Buick drums. Narrowed 40 dash keeping the ash trays and cut down the speaker grille to fit. I welded it onto a original 34 top and side section and molded the 40 dash so it bolts on with all the original screws. Using original firewall pieces to make a firewall. Magnesium Halibrands. 46 chromed bones. Trying to keep everything old school with original parts. keeping it full fendered. Got a glass top hood to cut. No side hoods going on. Gotta be on the road for summer. 2018

I find the dash familiar... but I used a '35-'36 across the top...

Pretty rare to see an untrimmed GMC 671 blower case.
You got any cackle videos of the hemi?
    That's a peach of a 34!

Came from an estate. The owner I found on the registration from 1963 still lived in the same place but died in 1994 and the owner from 1960 died in 2011 so I couldn't contact for more info. They had put it in a storage container and it sat there from the 60's until 2014.

Nice find and a great job you are doing bringing this old coupe back to life!

  24. Nice! I've been lusting after a '34 5 window since I've been old enough to know what a car is! My dad has one stashed on his ranch. I'm not allowed anywhere near it till he's gone. Kinda hope I'll never own it.

    Damn nice little coupe,well done.

  30. I think you have to upload the video to YouTube or the like as you can't host it directly here? If you have an Instagram you could post it there and put a link to it here. (That's what I've been doing because I can't remember what my you tube password is!)
