Why is it that this guy says that he is gonna chop it and everyone says "don't do it" and when I say that I am not going to chop mine everyone says that it needs it? I think everyone just likes to be contrary! Ha Ha Ha

  9. LOL 34 3 window looks great anyway you slice it I like the dore car cause there are a gizillion of them done as a hotrod and that car has got to be the classiest of all 34's

Naw Aaron...it's because you START with dogshit ugly stuff  ...and then POLISH it...Usually turns out nice for you...

Now if you'd START with a car like the above...most everyone would prolly just pat you on the head and say "Good Boy!!!";)

    Very nice starter kit.

Sounds like you've got it all planned out just right.

Thanks guys! I respect many of your opinions but the chop is a go. Someone mentioned a mild chop but then you lose that hot rod flavor and it tends to look passive in my opinion. The stance is all about aggression and the top (whole car for that matter) should follow suit, just my opinion. Think rolling bones. Wicked cool cars but if they had a 2 1/2" chop would those cars be so cool?
Thanks for the kind words and inspiration!

Take my advice : Don`t chop it till you have everything else done ( complete running chassie , wheels&Tire combo in place , Headlamps mounted .. and-so-on ) . `33/`34 3W coupes are in mho the finest looking Fords ever. Dont cut it up till you are SURE you want to do it , and if so , then copy the "California-Kid" style of chop ..
Here is the one I had ( started when I was 21 yrs old ( 1981) , Sold in `89/`90 when me & my girl needed a roof above our heads ..:) :(
    Klaz
( BTW .. The reason the body rides so high on the frame ( in rear ) is that I had just made a new rear traverse to lower the car, and the floor was nut cut to fit when that pic was takn`)

You gave good advice ( imho ) . Chassie work can be done & redone several times without to much harm done! A Chop that turned bad ( ugly) , or too HARD is a bitch to get back to cool .
    Stage 1 : Good frame ( Rustfree , straight&level )
Stage 2 : Body-work/Rust removal .. Close to stock as possible!
    Stage 3 : Chassie work & wheels ( 40ties,50ties,60ties ... )
Stage 4 : Drivetrain : Engine & gearbox you had in mind , OR any engine who could get you driving that thing ...
Stage 5: Drive it for a while .. get feedback ..
In short : Make it run before you chop it !!!
    Klaz:)

Damn, I think your mock up looks spot on as is!

If you chop it, I wouldn't whack it too much though.

I love the mock-up, please dont chop it!

I had the same mock-up going on my 3 window a few years ago but then I had to sell it to pay the bills while the wife was unemployed. I`ve never regreted selling a car TOO much until I sold that one, I would trade all of my current rides just to have it back!!

nice ride.............i'd have to really think about not chopping it..............but they look cool either way..good luck with the chick thing the rod will be easy...................................rooster

  26. This is a traditional hot rod site. I can't believe so many people are scared to chop old cars on here. What could be more traditional than a chopped top on an early Ford coupe? Of course it would look better chopped and not just 2 or 3 inches either!....my 2 cents.

i shaved my head to be able to chop cars even more

  28. Traditional, granted.

    Good looking, granted.

Just following the crowd, for sure.

    And no insults intended here.
I like em different and not chopping would do that for me.

I like mild chops as well, the ones where you're not quite sure what was done.

Just another opinion on an opinion post.
Don't mean much, the owner has to do what's right for him.

That said, since the car will have that Bad-Ass competition look I hope it gets an engine that matches the look.

I'd hate to see another small block with RV cam in a car like this . . . serious looking cars deserve serious engines.

    Nuff said....:)
