When I bought this truck I thought it was suppose to have dual rear wheels but then I had someone tell me it looked like it was built for singles. As I keeps looking at the hub on the rear drums it sticks out so far that I have to wonder if that was for duals not singles. What do you think? Anyone have any close up pics of duals ( I aint sure I know how to put them together since I aint never seen one).
is some pictures of our 32 shop truck.it had singles when we got it,but it looked too goofy to leave that way. here is what you need to add another set of wheels to the rear.i got this from www.macsautoparts.com hope this helps. -danny <TABLE border=0 cellSpacing=1 cellPadding=4 width="100%"><TBODY><TR><TD bgColor=#ffffff width=49 align=left>BB1120</TD><TD bgColor=#ffffff width=49 align=left>EACH </TD><TD bgColor=#ffffff width=47 align=left>2.15</TD><TD bgColor=#ffffff width=215 align=left>WHEEL HUB NUT </TD><TD bgColor=#ffffff width=215 align=left>RIGHT FRONT & SINGLE REAR TRUCK .875 X 1.50 WITH 3/4" INCH X 16 THREADS EXCEPT 122" WHEELBASE</TD><TD bgColor=#ffffff width=215 align=left>5</TD><TD bgColor=#ffffff width=63 align=middle>1930-1970</TD><TD bgColor=#ffffff width=1 align=left></TD><TD bgColor=#ffffff width=1 align=left></TD><TD bgColor=#ffffff width=111 align=middle></TD><TD bgColor=#35769d width=77 align=middle>View Detail</TD><TD bgColor=#35769d width=42 align=middle><INPUT size=4 name=Q0000021dBB1120Q> </TD><TD bgColor=#35769d width=80 align=middle>Add to Cart</TD></TR><TR><TD bgColor=#ffffff width=49 align=left>BB1121</TD><TD bgColor=#ffffff width=49 align=left>EACH </TD><TD bgColor=#ffffff width=47 align=left>2.15</TD><TD bgColor=#ffffff width=215 align=left>WHEEL HUB NUT </TD><TD bgColor=#ffffff width=215 align=left>LEFT FRONT & SINGLE REAR TRUCK .875 X 1.50 WITH 3/4" X 16 THREADS EXCEPT 122" WHEELBASE</TD><TD bgColor=#ffffff width=215 align=left>5</TD><TD bgColor=#ffffff width=63 align=middle>1930-1970</TD><TD bgColor=#ffffff width=1 align=left></TD><TD bgColor=#ffffff width=1 align=left></TD><TD bgColor=#ffffff width=111 align=middle></TD><TD bgColor=#35769d width=77 align=middle>View Detail</TD><TD bgColor=#35769d width=42 align=middle><INPUT size=4 name=Q0000021dBB1121R> </TD><TD bgColor=#35769d width=80 align=middle>Add to Cart</TD></TR><TR><TD bgColor=#ffffff width=49 align=left>BB1132</TD><TD bgColor=#ffffff width=49 align=left>EACH </TD><TD bgColor=#ffffff width=47 align=left>3.25</TD><TD bgColor=#ffffff width=215 align=left>WHEEL NUT </TD><TD bgColor=#ffffff width=215 align=left>INNER REAR RIGHT TRUCK STAMPED R</TD><TD bgColor=#ffffff width=215 align=left>5</TD><TD bgColor=#ffffff width=63 align=middle>1930-1970</TD><TD bgColor=#ffffff width=1 align=left></TD><TD bgColor=#ffffff width=1 align=left></TD><TD bgColor=#ffffff width=111 align=middle></TD><TD bgColor=#35769d width=77 align=middle>View Detail</TD><TD bgColor=#35769d width=42 align=middle><INPUT size=4 name=Q0000021dBB1132S> </TD><TD bgColor=#35769d width=80 align=middle>Add to Cart</TD></TR><TR><TD bgColor=#ffffff width=49 align=left>BB1133</TD><TD bgColor=#ffffff width=49 align=left>EACH </TD><TD bgColor=#ffffff width=47 align=left>3.25</TD><TD bgColor=#ffffff width=215 align=left>WHEEL NUT </TD><TD bgColor=#ffffff width=215 align=left>INNER REAR LEFT TRUCK STAMPED L</TD><TD bgColor=#ffffff width=215 align=left>5</TD><TD bgColor=#ffffff width=63 align=middle>1930-1970</TD><TD bgColor=#ffffff width=1 align=left></TD><TD bgColor=#ffffff width=1 align=left></TD><TD bgColor=#ffffff width=111 align=middle></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
Looking at the books (still have not found '33 truck salesman's manual) duals were optional, same wheels, new lugs to attach...probably based on usage and bed type of truck. Trucks certainly came both ways
So even though that hub is sticking wayyyy out there doesnt mean it was a dually? I mean I am fine with that saves me 400.00 in two more tires not to mention the rims but I want it to be original.
Your hub is way out just like on a Ford passenger rear for the same reason...long tapered axle retaining hub outside the area where bearing lives. In '34, maybe late '33, Ford went from the 3/4 floater rear to full floater on the trucks, resulting in a shorter axle with flat end.
The dually 1 1/2 ton trucks had a wider rear fender that could accomodate the duals. They also had a funny looking running board that looked kind of like a wedge that tappered from the wider rear fenders to the normal width of the board. Yours was definatly a single rear wheel option.
