I think all of them were without the road draft tube. But most of them used the rear crankcase ventilation hole, that the road draft tube had been used in on the earlier 283.
I forgot to mention that there was an option for a PCV because it was mandatory for any 1961-62 California delivered Chevy and optional elsewhere.
I always get confused, was it 62 or 63 they had to have it on all cars? I guess you know that it was 63....so yeah, 62 would have the draft tube.
There was a hose (1/2”,?) spigot adapter used in place of the draft tube when they came out with PCV valves. Still used the separator can in the lifter chamber. Despite what many believe, positive crankcase ventilation has extended the life of engine guts markedly.
68 large journal 327 had provision for draft tube/pvc adapter , 69 large journal 327 did not. Most in Ca had road draft hole and some 62's had the tube most other had the PVC valve adapter in place instead that I have had. My orig 62 Corvette had the PVC adapter in the road draft tube location as mentioned by 67L36 driver above. Wife's 55 has a 65 327 and it had the road draft tube when I got it years ago. It codes as a 300HP chevelle 327 Here is another type that goes in the road draft location but to the air cleaner instead
