Did any of the 303, 324, 371 or 394 engines have a rear dump exhaust manifold on the drivers side? I want to use a Vega steering box in my 32 Olds but the exhaust dumps right where I need to mount the box.

Later 394 (63-64?)was the only one, (I believe)...and it was an dual exhaust option...but it would not fit a 324.

Fenton made cast iron ones with rear outlet but won't work on a 324 head...and I am fairly sure the driver side outlet would hit an "early car firewall" design.

Can you put up pics of the space issue there? Someone might have an idea.

Sure, it is best to put the box as far forward as possible, but stock Fords did not in the mid 30s 40s.

Those look pretty nice. Got a link or how did you search? Couldn't find them.

I have used a passenger side manifold, from a dual exhaust 324 engine, on the drivers side.
That puts the outlet to the front and clears the steering box in my '40Ford cpe.
I will include pics. of the manifold I will use until I build my tube headers.

In regards to post #6. Drivers side of a 2 into 1 system also dumps in the front.

My mistake (oldtimers disease) I have 2 drivers side manifolds that I'm using on both
sides. It provides duals with the drivers side dump at the front and the pass. side dump
at the rear. The original pass. side manifold has provision for a crossover pipe.
If your Vega steering box is forward this setup probably won't help you.

I sent an email to noxious customs requesting two passenger side units. This would put the passenger side dump in the front and the drivers side to the rear which would fix my problem. I haven't gotten a response back yet. I was curious if there was another option. I want to retain the oil filter location so a rear dump on the passenger side won't work there. There set runs $400.

I am pretty sure Gonzo on hamb modified the exhaust gasket surface/to the head "angle" on a drivers side manifold to use on the passenger side and be able to clear the stock oil filter canister. That angle change, kicks the outlet flange out towards the frame rail, which might cause clearance issues there.
