Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by english gent, Sep 30, 2014.

  1. Oh, the audacity! To think that one could turn a bug into a cool 30s roadster with basic tools! How DARE you!?! Just who in the hell do you think you are, sir? ;)

I actually think this is cool as hell.

Yes, sacrilege to try such a thing and then publish it on the HAMB!
    What was I thinking?

This rod needs a name, how about Frankenstein Bug Rod or Frankenbugstein Rod! It's German and it fits. I like different, keep it coming!

Good thing you don't use 'Spunk Wanker' as your username on the HAMB :)

  10. so english gent, whats a spunk whanker? I'm still laughing, reminds me of the time a co-worker had called an arrogant customer on the phone and when he was done, he thought he hung up off the speaker phone, he started acting like and imitating the guy, which was still on the line and heard everything, he told my buddy a few things and then called him "horsefly". ...Its a texas thing.....I was rolling! good stuff

  11. Lol, I probably should. Fukn' Torino guy is a spunk wanker lurker here.

@turboroadster I think my parking critic was calling me a "jerk off", but I could be wrong.......I have to admit that spunk wanker has a better ring to it though.

Next I made a template for the firewall, cut it out and welded it in. This gave the structure much more stability. 20120614_133102a.jpg

  15. I really like the cowl vent,,have you considered adding any beads in the firewall to simulate the look
    of a Deuce? HRP

    All will be revealed.

I think potentially I could have started with a real (or repop) firewall, and built the whole car around that. But you live and learn, and I didn't want to spend that money before I knew the project might work.

It's clear that you're having way too much fun with this project. ;)

I love the name Beetledeuce. I was gonna suggest the too obvious Frankenbuggy but please stick with Beetledeuce.

BTW, I thought you'd use cut-down Bug doors, but you're using repop Fords?

I wanted to smooth the whole cowl out now, so I decided to try my hand at Lead Loading. Turns out this is less about skill and more about hard work and patience! 20120829_180259a.jpg 20120907_145013a.jpg 20120914_145522a.jpg 20120920_104918a.jpg 20120920_110715a.jpg 20120920_123007a.jpg

If that is MIG welded how come it looks so much better than other MIG welding I've seen? Bob

Waiting for the metal to get hot gives one time to contemplate the mysteries of the cosmos. Lots of time in my experience.

But then I'm a torch guy & MIG welding is too much like instant gratification.

Myself, I'm holding out to buy a TIG, so I can continue to practice being patient.

I'd love to try a torch and a TIG.

  28. Apparently, the only way I can see the pics is to quote them then view the attachments. So that's what I'm doing. Don't change a thing ill do what I can to keep up.

Stick and MIG welding tends to go faster than I can follow anymore. The torch is slow, but it still is messy and primitive compared to TIG.
