I think we might go a little more aggressive on the chop and go 4 inches (in the front anyway). Is that your black 5 window in the second pic and if so can you tell mr what kind of wheels those are?

Looks like a great start Big Bang! Great looking frame. I like the pivots for the ladder bars. Don't not sweat the 350 and 700 trans, u can't beat the reliability. That's what I was gonna do on my a coupe until a 409 fell in my lap. One suggestion would be to get the frame, motor mounts etc set up now in a way that you could change motors down the road if you got bored! Subscribed!

image.jpg When I bought my body in 2001, it had been chopped 3". We re-chopped it another 1.5", and I now wish I'd gone a tad more. I'm 6'2", and have plenty of headroom with my bomber style seat. It's got a 5 speed and is very comfortable on the highway.

Henry was extremely helpful to me when I was installing his sub rail kit in my coupe. He's a big fan of Hilton's build style. You can't go wrong with that. 350 SBC fit in real easy, plenty of power for the coupe, but three pedals is the way to go IMHO

  9. Hey, Bigbang nice looking project.

Since you've asked for opinions, I'll give you another one. I like the plans for the chop, my sedan (which essentially is the same as your 5 window) is chopped 3.5 with a pillars leant back, I think it's dead on. But I am a little taller than you, so 4" would be nice.

In regards to the motor/ trans, I think you'd be crazy to go the 350/Auto combo. There are soooo many cool vintage options for you. Yes everything been done before, there's no denying that....but how many times do you go "WOW did you see that sweet 5 window with the sbc ?? Man that thing is the tits" In the long run you would be much happier with some thing else, olds, caddy, nailhead,...

I'm with Deluxe 32. I think the S/B auto is great for a budget minded build or plastic kit car. The quality of your build begs a vintage mill.

  11. Well, imho, an Ardun flattie/5-speed would be something you don't see everyday. But, I have broke from my flathead power plant selection mold and I am building a Nailhead/5-speed for my 5-window. That, to me, is also a sweet option ....

Took the 5 window body to Henry today. He has the chassis out of the jig now, going to get the engine in for mock up and put the cross members in. Should be ready in a couple weeks. We were talking today and he has so many cool ideas for the car I can't wait to see the progress.

Henry is a great guy, walked me through installing his rear subrail kit on my coupe. You're lucky to have him building your car, should be a beauty.

Love those motor mounts. Very nice. As has been stated, those Ohio cats know how to build a hot rod.
