Technical 3 speed o/d with electronic ignition

    Just curious if a 3 speed with o/d that kills the ignition can be used with electronic ignition.

    You need a continuous solenoid not a regular starter solenoid.

    That may depend on what type of electronic ignition you have. If you have a detached coil, momentarily grounding out the coil shouldn't have an effect on the electronics.

    Personally I wouldn't try it do to electrical sensitivity issues that may occur. But maybe, if you use #18 white red wire to a modern relay (negative coil) to signal positive power off @ ignition system.

  5. My panel has a stockish o/d set-up and works fine with a Pertronix unit in the dist.
     
  6. If wired as per the factory diagram, it'll work fine with a Pertronix.

    Was thinking about a Ford Duraspark system but a Petronix would work.
