Me and MBL swapped the truck over from the stock chassis to the "hot-rod" chassis. It lowered the bed about 10 inches, and the rest about 8 or so. We got some needed measurements, and an idea of what we need to change or add. I think it's going to come out pretty cool! We're going to channel the cab about 4 inches, but no chop. Here's the before, and a couple of afters...
Looks good. I like the no chop on those 28-29 cabs. I think I will go in the garage and look at my cab and ponder a bit. What you got for a chassis (specs)?
Thanks. It's a model A chassis, kicked up in the back with a square tube rear section. (Just stepped actually). Dago dropped axle in the front. It's stretched about 6 inches, so it clears the flatty real nice. We had a red ram hemi and a 31 A roadster set up with it before, and it cleared all that to.
Bitchin man! I have just started on my 29 PU and love the look of the "crackerbox"!! kool pu keep us posted! Keep it up! JG
I think it will look much better with the body channeled over the frame. I think it should come together nicely. Tim MBL
Looks good. I finally found some doors for mine. I'd like to get mine looking something near yours . . . someday.
Hey looks cool, good start! Seeing your truck makes me want to get going again on mine. Pic of mine taken in March. I'm going to hit it hard after Labor Day. The frame is z'd 5" in the front and 18" in the back. 59A flathead, T5 trans and bronco 9".
Thanks guys. Dan...that's the chassis I bought from Max way back when. Roupe...that's cool...I have some crazy, zoomy, headers that came with the engine, but I don't know if they will work or not until we actually mount that merc engine.
Lookin' good Jon. It seems like every pic taken in your shop just swallows the light. All of my pics from March are really dark. How long you figger before it hits the road??? I guess I better not ask such a loaded question, being that everytime I answer that question about my own stuff, it puts me about 6 months further behind! Keep me posted on the progress. Take care, Reverend Jake.
Very cool Jon. Looks like I may have a gig lined up so I can come home soon. Maybe I'll see it in person in near future.
Yeah Jake, I know what you mean about the light out there...I had to lighten those pics up before posting them. It will be done before the NSRA show for sure, so I guess about 3 months?
Thanks for the positive words guys! I'll hopefully have another update in a couple of weekends. Jeff... That sounds cool, Hows the Buick?
