DSCF0545.JPG DSCF0545.JPG DSCF0545.JPG DSCF0543.JPG DSCF0542.JPG That front axle is part of the pile of parts I'm giving my Grandson to build his first car chassis. Managed to move enough crap out of the way to do something today. Making one fender out of two and getting the arch dead on perfect means building a fender buck. Took five tries to get it right on some junk 1/4 stock that is now in the wood stove. Real happy with how things turned out. Got to glue and screw these two pieces together then bore some large clamp holes, then on to the dummy frame rail and whatever needs to go inside. Bob

Found this at the town dump today, saved me the cost of a $35.00 sheet of 3/4 plywood. I'm on a roll should have that fender buck finished by the weekend. Bob DSCF0549.JPG

Actually spent a few hours on the project today. Cleaned out the work area, and moved the panel that fits over the windshield and visor, saw a can of paint remover, brushed it on and and sanded things to bare metal. No big deal but the first bit of progress in two months.

  7. Remember Don Silverbauer's? I will have to dig up a photo.

Yes, It was the first A with a Total Performance chassis and painted gold if my memory is correct. Bob

  10. Actually it was a mid-color green metallic. I know I have photos. Look later.

Got two free cans of paint remover, front fenders are in bare steel now. Once I finish the buck I can start cutting, having a bit more room in the basement is a good thing. Bob

Driving home in the rain form my second swap meet this weekend I was daydreaming of driving the finished Steelback. Some how I can picture this car in the rain more that in the sunshine. Might try and make some progress on it this afternoon. Bob

Mark, That photo must date back to the mid 1970's, before we knew how to narrow rear axles. Is the car still in the area? Bob

Tommy Ryan's Tudor looks the same today. Funny how the main thing I remember about the Van Iderstien '32 was the friction tape wrapped front spring. Some red wires on your old Coupe, and it would fit right in here. Bob

Bought some Model A Ford leftovers, keeping the running boards for setup work. The five powercoated 21's wound up free after I sold off some others. The Inspector almost has all the bits to put his A chassis together. Bob DSCF2753.JPG DSCF2713.JPG

Sunday and it is raining, plan to install a new light in the garage, wish me luck. If it allows me to see I may make some minor progress on things. Bob

New light install only took me two hours, body is now on two Home Depot rollers, big improvement. Next goal is selling off enough crap that is in the garage to cover sandblasting costs. Bob DSCF2808.JPG

It's only good after it sells, some things are even great, I want to see the walls again. Bob
