Technical 29 coupe weather stripping questions

Tearing into my 28 coupe replacing the firewall to put a recessed one in . What did you guys use to replace the weather stripping that sets above the gas tank and wraps around the cowl it is a cloth now that sandwiches between the body panels . Could I replace it with a seam sealer or is there a rubber replacement any advice is appreciated. Thank you

 

Most of the Model A parts suppliers have cowl welt available...check their web sites.
