A friend picked up a '29 Chrysler that has been sleeping for 40+ years.

The flathead 6 cylinder engine has a dual point distributor with a 3 lobe distributor cam.

Any idea why Chrysler would use this set up instead of a 6 lobe distributor cam?

    Thanks in advance

  2. Does it have the "Red Head" (high compression) cylinder head on it?

Didnt notice a red color. It is a Chrysler 77 4 dr sedan if that helps any. Is the red head marked in any way?

  4. It may say "RED HEAD" or "SILVER DOME" on it.

That style gave the coil more time to saturate. Some racing ones were made that way too. I'm not sure if it was better or not but using 6 volts had many more manufacturers looking for an edge and making reliability very important
