I've swapped my crank balancer/pulley on my '54 261 to one from a 235 to get a 3/8" belt pulley. When I fired it up it was making a clanging noise so I pulled the balancer back out a few thousandths and it stopped making the noise. I thought you just drove these on until they stopped. What did I do wrong? I did put a speedy sleeve on it to fix the wear from the seal but I can't imagine that would interfere with anything.

Smart A$$. Yes I know everything is bigger in Texas. Pulley seems to be doing the job though. Hasn't fell off yet and no more noises. Say hi to your wife for me. Been feeling great since I got out of her hospital.
