    Now it’s ready to install.
The nice flat wide gasket surface and the silicone gasket should do the trick.

Just for reference this is where and I believe why the stamped steel piece of crap pan was leaking.
It has a relief formed into the pan that I can see no reason for.
And of course that’s where it leaked.

Ahhh man, you gotta remove the paint from those fins before you install it.

    Great job Larry, very impressive.

Where ever you drive this car you should pass out cards with a link to this thread so people after being amazed with the car can be truly amazed with what it took to build it. Just seeing the finished product is not enough.

    Thanks
:D I have a transmission cooler and even painted aluminum transfers and dissipates heat.

Surely you’re not one of those guys that believe that a small film of paint acts like an insulating blanket :D

No, it's just aesthetics. The pan would look much cooler with the paint removed from the fins, especially if you polished them! ;)

  11. Silly question but, have you test fitted the pan? Just looking at the revels in the tin pan and the new gasket. JW

I’ve nicely finished and taken care of the details on the underside but I’ve been restricting the shiny stuff to the topside ( the ceramic coated exhaust being a small exception ) where you can see it and I can clean it.
I think I’ll stick to the plan ;):D

  15. Dang' .. that does look good !

Also ... I can see you with some rags and towels cleaning underneath too. Looks pretty damn tidy to not to.

After all .. you did build some fancy high lift stands.

    We see you, man. :)

The transmission pan is perfect, no leaks and I’m confident it will stay that way.

I realized that I never posted pictures of the new fan. :D
It should move a lot more air than the previous one.
I also switched to a 7 lb cap.

Probably a dumb question, but shouldn't the rivets on the fan be towards the radiator and the smooth side be toward the engine?

It’s a clockwise standard rotation fan and was labeled for the side facing the radiator.

I installed it the way it was marked.

This picture shows what the front side facing the radiator looks like.

Derale fan - non flex 28 degree blades , should move air well.

Yes actually I got those from Oxygen products I believe.
KMS tools sells Walter too but I’ve never looked for them there.
I’m pretty sure Praxair would have them also.

Well today I put the distributor back in and got it fired up and started fine tuning the 3 Strombergs

The new core plug in the head is perfect and leak free as is the transmission pan.

I couldn’t get the transmission to do any driving of the rear wheels so I checked the fluid level.

I added another litre and I’ll have to get more.
After that it does move the rear wheels but there’s still no fluid reading on the dipstick yet.

Any idea how much a C4 holds from right empty? I’ve got about 7 1/2 litres in it now.

Any tips on adjusting the carbs?

My oil pressure gauge is working and shows good oil pressure.

The new fan did the trick no overheating, great air movement and cooling.
