Really nice job. When you retire from welding you can start a career in finish carpentry lol.

    :D I don't think I would like a full time carpentry gig.
I can get by, I always said that a man who can use tools properly can do just about anything. :D

Since I don't have a fireplace, when I'm done with the painting I'll be shipping the remains of the paint booth to you for disposal :D
All it will cost you is shipping :D

Finished the vent system. This thing really moves air, the air exchange in the booth is excellent.
I also mounted my HVLP turbine so it's going to be user friendly from inside the booth.
Excuse my messy shop, cleaning up the place is next :D

They sell them as a confined space vent fan here at Princess Auto. The hose also came from them. Not sure if Harbor Freight might carry something like that down your way.
Search 12 " confined space vent fan and also 12" x 25' flex hose and you can probably find a supplier.
The fan is rated at 2650 CFM.

The bed and my grille shell, front axle and tailgate are at the blasters now, the gas tank is getting a nice coat of Wimbledon white at the powder coat shop. ( Same as the wheels )
The windshield frame and posts are now at Ogden Chrome.
Next week I'll be spraying epoxy primer.
One thing at a time :D doing it by yourself takes time :D

Of course then the unexpected happens and my garage door opener self destructs when I go to unload my parts from the blaster.
So, a trip to the building supply and a new one in a box.... a couple days later I once again have a working garage door. :D

When you install it be careful those doors when loose are HEAVY.

  16. You're doing that booth right! All that prep should lead to great results. My experience with turbine is that you won't be working in a "cloud" of spray.
Good luck with the project, can't wait

I can't tell from the pics but you want to filter the air in as well as filter the air before it gets to the fan ...[enclose the fan w/a filter box]

Air coming into the booth is filtered by filters on the doors.
It moves enough air that I have to crack the big garage door to give it some air :)
I also installed an air supply fitting through the end wall that will supply breathing air from my hobby air system to my breathing mask for when I spray the catalyzed acrylic urethane ( isocyanates ).
For the epoxy primer (no isocyanates) I'm just going to use organic vapor filters.

The reason for a filter before he fan is to keep particulate off the fan & especially tthe fan motor , the particulate will quickley coat the motor windings & cause it to overheat/fail ..

My fan is for exhaust and the filters will remove the overspray and the fan should be fine. Airflow is from the filters on the doors through the filters before the vent fan and out.

Great booth Blue One! As usual you have taken the time and effort think of all contingencies. It should work great and allow you to produce a high quality paint job in a safe environment for you and the neighbors.

Well we have some epoxy primer shot
Got the frame and body done today and I'm going to try getting the pickup bed and all the other assorted parts primed day by day as long as it takes now. (Having the whole summer for vacation sure helps ;))
Have to drop by the body shop supply for a few things tomorrow.
The paint booth works really well

Thanks once I get everything primed there will be a bunch of filling and blocking to do on the body. Then probably more primer before paint.
The frame will probably just get a light sanding before color.

Jeeze at a quick glance it looked like a strange alien lifeform attacking your house in the last photo. Then took a better look and saw it was a MOOSE antler. :)
