I recently purchased a 57 Commander with the stock 259 in need of a valve lifter adjustment. Any tips?

Yep...Studebaker Drivers Club. I believe the adjustment is .024 cold and .026 hot.

Oh, you need a think skin. Some guys like modified cars and some don't.

Get the manuals. You can get reprints or you can get them all on CD. You'll need a parts book, as all vendors use the OEM part numbers. Studebaker International is the largest vendor

I believe it is just the opposite. .026 cold and .024 hot. I'm sure you can find information on methods on the Studebaker Drivers Club forum. Good advice on the manuals. All are available and will save lots of time.

I personally don't think a thick skin is a requirement for that forum. JMHO
