Nice pics and thanks for posting. I seem to remember a thread here on help with a Ruxton restoration too. Didn't one get featured on Chasing Classic Cars show too?

  2. I was at Laguna Seca last Thursday morning when the tour de elegance took a couple of laps around the track.
It was pretty foggy n' overcast so none of the pictures I took came out....

It was fascinating to see the craftsmanship in the cars....all the hoop la didn't impress me.......I looked at the yellow '34 Packard and thought...man that thing would really be cool with a big block chevy, automatic and vintage ac so you could drive it regular.....and I know the old saying..."These cars can be driven"...yeah....break down somewhere and go to NAPA to get a part....when I speak of driving, I'm talking about something you can drive and find parts for at most any parts house........and what I meant about a personal tour was that the guy with us that was the CEO got us in to some places most don't get to go...we were not special in any case, just Blessed to have known someone who could get us a little extra treatment.

.If someone hand formed a car TODAY like any of the cars posted, the group would be jizzing all over them selves.....and if the car was built using the technology available at the time these car were built, the builder would be placed on a pedestal for being Uber Trad.

    Hey
Thanks for the pictures. What is that model A type called? Maybe some more information about it.

  10. It's one of those things, you either get it or you don't. I personally think PB is a great show and shows the diversity of both original craftsmanship and restoration skill.

Thank you, very well said, I'm 63 and hope to cross Pebble Beach off my "Bucket List" before my time is up. If I don't make it at least everyone knows I was trying. Bob

We toured to Nethercutt Museum with the Greybeard Tour and saw them cleaning a car for Pebble Beach, they were looking for their 7th trophy. Ladies under car cleaning with white gloves on, amazing (wonder if they would do my hotrod) DSCN2776.JPG

Lil32, Thanks for posting the shot of that Rolls with the cainwork, that is applied with a tube somewhat like a cake decorator. It is the handywork of John Kurtzman from Norwalk, Ct. I think he did 4-5 of the Nethercutt cars. Bob

I'd really like to see him in action doing the cainwork.........the tour guide and I were talking about pinstriping and she asked if I had felt it...I said.."Heck no...I haven't touched anything"...she said come rub you hand over it.....it felt just like a straw hat........I studied it for a while...I'm going to try and reproduce the effect soon as I get caught up enough to do the layout work........Lil32 (Alan)....we had a great time, didn't we?

Sorry, if it's pre-war and non-Ford I'm just not really interested.

Yes, upon entry, they give the attendees a pocket car guide which has a long paragraph on each entry....the individual history of each and every one is mind boggling!

  28. Couldn't make it to Pebble Beach but I was in Monterey for the entire Concourse Week leading up to it....the Missus was there on business so I tagged along.

It's gearhead heaven for the entire week leading up to Pebble Beach:

Made it to the Concourse on the Avenue in Carmel on Tuesday.

Walked on to the golf course where the cars were being staged for display for the Mecum auction Wednesday morning and the Little Car Show in Pacific Grove in the afternoon.

Went to Laguna Seca Thursday to see the Rolex Motorsports Reunion and the Concourse de Elegance make a couple of laps around the track
    .
Went to a PCA Werks Reunion at the Rancho Canada Golf Club Friday morning and the R&M Auction preview in Monterey Friday Night.

Went to the Concourse de Lemons in Seaside Saturday morning and the Gooding Auction preview at Pebble Beach in the afternoon.

Everything was free 'cept for the auction previews and $20 for pit passes to Laguna Seca.
